The travel industry tends to have a keen sense of risk factors and take good care to minimize those concerns, in a quiet manner. <br /><br />Unfortunately, however, there are the perennial predators out there that watchfully wait for the opportunity of an unsuspecting traveler who lets their guard down in the more relaxed setting of vacation/travel.<br /><br />One might argue that ignorance is bliss. I have a much higher comfort level with the position that knowledge is power. With this knowledge in hand, I can better enjoy my trip with having a sense that I've got my bases covered.<br /><br />Perhaps this is simply a discussion about the semantics of 'common sense'.
